In a rare display of non-partisan statesmanship, the Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, has publicly commended former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his contribution to the development of the Dormaa traditional area.

The traditional ruler made these remarks during President John Dramani Mahama’s “Resetting Tour” in the Bono Region, where a sod-cutting ceremony was held for a new 24-hour economy model market at Dormaa Ahenkro.

Acknowledging the Akufo-Addo Legacy

While hosting President Mahama and discussing the progress of the region, the Dormaahene took a moment to highlight specific infrastructure projects initiated by the Akufo-Addo administration that have significantly impacted his people. Key among these is the Agenda 111 hospital project located at Amasu.

The Chief noted that the facility is nearing completion and serves as a testament to the former President’s commitment to healthcare in the district.

“One of the major things that he [Akufo-Addo] also left for us is the Agenda 111 hospital. This hospital is at Amasu. It is near completion,” the Dormaahene stated.

Beyond healthcare, Osagyefo Dr. Agyemang Badu II also expressed gratitude for the construction of a modern market facility in the area, pointing it out as a visible milestone of the previous government’s work.

A Call for Continuity

The Dormaahene’s speech was not just about past gratitude but also a roadmap for future development.

Addressing John Mahama directly, the traditional leader urged the President to ensure that the Amasu hospital project does not become a “white elephant” whiles he is in office.

“Please find money to come and complete it for us,” he appealed, emphasizing that the completion of the project is a priority for the chiefs and people of Dormaa.

Highlights of the “Resetting Tour” in Dormaa:

Sod-Cutting: John Mahama officially broke ground for a 24-hour economy model market.

Infrastructure Review: The Dormaahene listed various road projects and initiatives undertaken during Mahama’s previous term.

Traditional Endorsement of Development: The Chief reiterated that his focus remains on the progress of Dormaa, regardless of which political party provides the infrastructure.

The Dormaahene’s remarks have been widely praised by locals as a refreshing example of traditional leaders prioritizing national development over partisan loyalty.
