
President John Dramani Mahama has officially confirmed the appointment of Dr. George Kojo Owusu as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
The appointment was made in consultation with the Public Services Commission and follows the recommendations of the NAS Governing Board.
Dr. Owusu brings a wealth of expertise to the role, recognized as a distinguished healthcare professional and a specialist Emergency Physician.
With a career spanning two decades, he has been pivotal in delivering quality specialist emergency medical services in Ghana. Beyond his clinical prowess, he is a Chartered Administrator and a Clinical Lecturer.
Academically, the new CEO holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Health Law and Ethics from the University of Ghana School of Law, positioning him to lead the service with a strong understanding of both medical and legal frameworks.
Dr. Owusu takes the helm of an agency mandated to provide critical pre-hospital care.
The NAS has seen significant growth since its inception in 2004, expanding from just seven stations to 297 stations by the end of 2020 under the previous leadership of Dr. Ahmed Nuhu Zakariah.
