A newly qualified doctor has made history at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) after claiming a stunning 10 awards at the institution’s 58th Congregation ceremony on Saturday.
Dr Henry Arnold Gyamfi dominated the awards ceremony for the College of Health and Allied Sciences, winning 10 of the 25 honours presented to graduating medical students at the School of Medical Sciences.

The exceptional graduate’s haul included awards for Best Graduating Student in Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Child Health, Internal Medicine and Therapeutics, Radiology, and Neuroscience. He also secured the Best Clinical Student Award, Best Graduating Male Student, Best Male Medical Student, and the prestigious Overall Best Performance award.

Speaking after the ceremony, Dr. Gyamfi revealed his future career plans. “Currently, I am considering internal medicine and a subspecialty in cardiology. But hopefully, after the housemanship, it will be clear enough for me to know exactly which path to take,” he stated.
The young physician paid special tribute to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whose financial support enabled him to complete his medical education. Dr Gyamfi described the monarch’s sponsorship as crucial to his academic success.
Dr Gyamfi’s academic journey began at TI Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi, where he completed his secondary education. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies before gaining admission to UCC’s medical programme, where he has now distinguished himself with this remarkable achievement.
The graduation ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of students from the College of Health and Allied Sciences, with Dr Gyamfi’s performance standing out as particularly noteworthy among his peers.
