Popular Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, widely known as RNAQ, has offered a massive GH¢2 million cash settlement to his ex-wife, Joana Coffie, in a bid to end their long-running divorce battle outside of court.

Aside from the cash, the founder of Quick Credit (now Bills Micro-Credit) has also offered her luxury houses and brand-new cars to finally bring peace to the family.

The details of this new offer were contained in a letter from RNAQ’s lawyers to Joana’s legal team dated May 7, 2026. The information was made public on May 22 during a broadcast by Ola Michael on Accra-based Peace FM.

“With respect to the alimony of GH¢300,000 as ordered by the High Court, our client has enhanced that amount to GH¢2 million,” the lawyers’ statement noted.

Houses and Brand-New Cars Added to the Deal

To sweeten the deal and settle the matter quickly, the businessman has added several properties and high-end vehicles to his offer:

1. Full House Ownership: RNAQ has promised to finish ongoing renovations on their jointly owned house and transfer the entire ownership to Joana.

2. Extra Property: He is also ready to hand over another three-bedroom house located in Dansoman.

3. Luxury Vehicles: Instead of the older cars previously ordered by the court, RNAQ wants to give Joana a brand-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and a second new car of her own choice.

The Background: A Fierce Legal Battle

The former couple was married for 16 years and share three children. The divorce took a messy turn when Joana claimed she helped co-found the business empire that made RNAQ rich. She initially demanded a huge GH¢50 million settlement when the legal battle began.

The dispute hit headlines back in 2023 when Joana reported RNAQ to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, alleging that he had forcefully kicked her out of their Dansoman home.

On January 20, 2026, High Court Judge Justice Kofi Dorgu officially dissolved the marriage. The judge rejected Joana’s GH¢50 million demand, stating that courts do not want to encourage people to seek divorce just for financial gain.

Instead, the court awarded Joana:

• A lump-sum alimony of GH¢300,000.

• A one-third share of their Dansoman home.

• Two old Jaguar vehicles.

• GH¢5,000 every month for the upkeep of their three children.

The Appeal and Fresh Injunction

Unhappy with the low court award, Joana hired former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame as her lawyer and filed an appeal. Her legal team argues that the trial judge did not properly apply Ghanaian laws regarding how property should be shared fairly after divorce.

To protect her interests while waiting for the appeal, Joana also filed a fresh injunction at the Accra High Court. The injunction aims to legally stop RNAQ from selling, transferring, or hiding his company shares and valuable assets until the higher court makes a final decision.

 Moving Forward

With the legal pressure mounting and the case remaining in the public eye, RNAQ’s lawyers stated that the businessman is now fully prepared to resolve all outstanding differences calmly for the sake and emotional well-being of their three children.

It is now up to Joana Coffie and her legal team to decide whether to accept this new GH¢2 million out-of-court package or continue the fight in the Court of Appeal.
