The African music takeover is reaching fever pitch as Nigerian superstars Burna Boy and Tems officially pull ahead of the pack on the world’s biggest music stage.
The duo has broken their long-standing tie with the legendary South African rock group, Seether, to become the African artists with the most entries in the history of the Billboard US Hot 100.
A Historic Leap via J. Cole
Before this week, Burna, Tems, and Seether were locked in a three-way tie with seven entries each.
However, the release of American rap titan J. Cole’s highly anticipated album, “The Fall-Off,” has rewritten the history books.
The Nigerian icons both secured features on the project, propelling them to a record-breaking 8 entries each:
● Tems debuted at No. 34 with the track ‘Bounce Road Blues’, featuring Future.
● Burna Boy entered at No. 78 with the melodic ‘Only You’.
Tems: The Queen of 2026
Tems is currently enjoying a phenomenal year, proving why she is one of the most sought-after voices globally.
She has already notched three Billboard hits in 2026 alone:
■ ‘Raindance’ (with Dave)
■ ‘What You Need’
■ ‘Bounce Road Blues’ (with J. Cole & Future)
This streak gives her the highest number of entries for any African artist this year so far.
Burna Boy’s Unmatched Longevity
While the record for total entries is a massive win, Burna Boy has also locked in a “longevity” milestone that may not be broken for a long time.
The “African Giant” has become the first African artist to land a song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years.
Take a look at his incredible run:
▪︎ 2021: Loved By You
▪︎ 2022: Last Last
▪︎ 2023: Sittin’ On Top Of The World & Talibans II
▪︎ 2024: Just Like Me & We Pray
▪︎ 2025: WGFT
▪︎ 2026: Only You
As Afrobeats continues to blur the lines between regional sounds and global pop, Burna Boy and Tems are leading the charge, ensuring Africa’s seat at the head of the table remains permanent.
